WATCH: Ivanka Trump Praises Her Father In RNC Speech As ‘The People’s President’

President Donald Trump‘s daughter, senior adviser Ivanka Trump, addressed the Republican National Convention with a speech full of praise for her father, whom she championed as “the people’s president.”

In her nearly 15-minute speech, Ivanka, unlike her siblings and the president himself, did not attack Joe Biden and the Democrats but instead was a strong defender of her father and used softer rhetoric to paint an image of Trump as a compassionate and family-oriented leader.

“Four years ago I told you I would fight alongside my father, and four years later, here I am,” Ivanka told the crowd, as they chanted “four more years.”

“Donald Trump did not come to Washington to win praise from the Beltway elites. Donald Trump came to Washington for one reason, and one reason alone: To make America great again,” she said.

She introduced her father to the chanting crowd, recalling personal moments of her and her son spending time with the president as a family. Those were the moments, she said she wished “every American could see.”

Ivanka tried to paint Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. in a new light. Trump weeks ago dismissed the coronavirus death rate, saying “it is what it is” and repeatedly claimed his administration did “a great job” containing the aftermath of the pandemic.

“I’ve been with my father and seen the pain in his eyes when he receives updates on the lives that have been stolen by this plague,” Ivanka Trump said. “I have witnessed him make some of the most difficult decisions of his life. I sat with him in the Oval Office as he stopped travel to Europe.”

Like Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway, who said the president was a “champion” of women for him helping women land leadership roles in the administration, Ivanka also touted her father as a pro-women president.

“Four years ago in Cleveland, I said that President Trump would deliver for working women,” Ivanka Trump said. “Last year, over 70 percent of all new jobs were secured by women.”

She also portrayed his father’s public behavior and way of speaking as his asset and spoke of him as an outsider and a a “warrior in the White House.”

“For the first time in a long time, we have a president who has called out Washington’s hypocrisy, and they hate him for it,” she said. “Dad, people attack you for being unconventional, but I love you for being real, and I respect you for being effective,” she said.

By speaking at the RNC, Ivanka has been accused of breaking the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees, with the exception of the president and vice president, from taking part in political events. Her office responded to the criticism, saying she participated as the president’s daughter, not the administration employee.
