WATCH: Biden Releases His First Presidential Campaign Ad In Texas, Increasing Pressure On Trump

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden‘s campaign debuted its first general election television advertisement in Texas last week.

The 60-second feature clip, titled “Tough,” is a part of a multi-state buy that deals with the wave of COVID-19 cases throughout the southern and western regions of the country. Alongside Texas, the ad is also expected to play in Florida, North Carolina and Arizona, all states which have experienced a recent surge in coronavirus infections.

In the ad, Biden says, “We can stop the spread but it’s up to all of us to do it. We have to step up and do both the simple things and the hard things to keep our families and our neighbors safe. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay home if you can and socially distance when you go out.”

“I want every single American to know – if you’re sick, if you’re struggling, if you’re worried about how you’re going to get through the day, I will not abandon you … We’re all in this together. We’ll fight this together, and together we’ll emerge from this stronger than we were before we began,” he continues.

The buy comes as Biden remains neck-to-neck with President Donald Trump in traditionally red Texas. As the coronavirus takes center stage, the statewide campaign season continues to be upended by the coronavirus.

In response to the skyrocketing cases, GOP Gov. Greg Abbott backpedaled last week and mandated statewide masks.

Despite campaign hurdles, Biden champions ahead in the ad, saying, “Stay safe wear a mask,” at the end of the clip.

In the four-state television buy, Biden alludes to Trump and his refusal to wear a mask throughout the pandemic until ta week ago. Over the past several months, Biden has condemned Trump’s handling of the coronavirus.

The ads will air in each state’s top markets, on local cable and Sunday cable shows, a Biden campaign official said.
