Washington State has just announced a new COVID vaccine incentive program in which it will hand out complimentary marijuana joints for anyone over the age of 21 who receives the vaccine. The program will run from June 7 until July 12 and has been approved by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.
The Board announced the initiative Monday and was made effective immediately. In a press release, the Board outlined the conditions of the program. “Participating cannabis retailers may only provide a pre-roll joint, and no other product may be provided as part of this allowance,” it said in a statement. Participants must be 21 or older and “only one complimentary joint may be provided to a customer who receives a first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose at the event.”
The promotion has been launched alongside an existing Washington State program which offers lottery cash prizes totaling $2 million, higher education tuition and expense assistance, sports tickets and gear, gift cards, airline tickets, game systems and smart speakers.
This is one of many initiatives that have been launched in the past week across the U.S., such as a West Virginia’s program, which includes the opportunity to win hunting guns.
