Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz joined Vice President Kamala Harris at his first rally since becoming her running mate.
During a rally at Temple University in Philadelphia, Walz and Harris appeared onstage together to speak about their campaign.
Walz addressed the crowd and celebrated each person there as the campaign reached a record-breaking attendance with 14,000 people.
“We need you, each and every one of you,” Walz said. “My God, you came here tonight to sit at the very top [in the stands] because you love this country, and you’re not going back.”

Walz, a former teacher and veteran, also used the platform to dig into former President Donald Trump.
“Trump weakens our economy to strengthen his own hand. He mocks our laws. He sows chaos and division, and that’s to say nothing of his record as president. He froze in the face of the Covid crisis,” Walz said. “He drove our economy into the ground. And make no mistake, violent crime was up under Donald Trump — that’s not even counting the crimes that he committed.”
Walz also joined the crowd in a series of different chants, including “not going back” and “lock him up,” referring to Trump.
The Minnesota governor also described his political opponents as “weird,” a tactic that was originally used by Walz in interviews that quickly gained traction within the party. In speaking on JD Vance, Walz referred to the online rumors that Vance had sex with a couch.
“JD studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and wrote a bestseller trashing that community. That’s not what middle America is. And I’ve got to tell you, I can’t wait to debate the guy — that is if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up,” Walz said.
Harris and Walz were joined by DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, Sen. John Fetterman, Sen. Bob Casey and Gov. Josh Shapiro.
Tuesday was one of the best fundraising days for the Harris campaign, raising more than $20 million since Walz became the official running mate.
