In an unsigned post on their editorial page, The Wall Street Journal joined many public calls for President Donald Trump’s resignation on Thursday.

The editorial bluntly declared, “If Mr. Trump wants to avoid a second impeachment, his best path would be to take personal responsibility and resign. It is best for everyone, himself included, if he goes away quietly.”

The Wall Street Journal, alongside Fox News, is owned by billionaire Rupert Murdoch, a staunch Trump ally. The Journal’s article comes in contrast to Fox News’ hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, who have avoided blaming Trump for the riots in the Capitol building on Wednesday.

The Journal editorial comes one day after a similar editorial from The Washington Post, The Guardian, The New York Times and several other prestigious publications which call for impeachment or resignation of the president.
