Vladimir Putin has lost five generals and more soldiers from the elite SWAT fighters in the Russian invasion of Ukraine in under a month – a historically poor performances that has shocked military experts.

General Alexander Garnaev, who denounced the war, was a famous military test pilot who died along with the seven SWAT fighters during the invasion of Ukraine. Major Oleg Mityaev, commander of the Russian armies feared 150th motorized rifle division, was killed while storming of Mariupol, Ukrainian officials said.

A picture of Mityaev was released by Anton Gereashchenko, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry adviser, according to the Ukrainian government he was the fifth general to die in battle. The Kremlin has reported the death of one general, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the death of another Russian general in his nighttime address but didn’t name him.

Photos of the seven SWAT members were released as well four have been identified – Major Viktor Maksimchuck, Mikhail Belyakov, Alexey Blinkov and Maxim Pustozvonov. In his statement against the war, Garnaev said that “sooner or later society will know the final number of the losses.”
