President-elect Donald Trump met with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, Dec. 16, as the social media giant was asking the Supreme Court to temporarily block a law seeking to ban its use in the US.
Footage from Trump’s deputy director of communications, Margo Martin, shows the president-elect saying that he has “a warm spot” in his heart for the app, which he believes helped him appeal to younger voters.
Trump originally tried to ban TikTok, but has since reversed course, pledging to oppose a ban that would shut down the app in the U.S. before the end of January.
