U.S. Marines were deployed to the border between Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, to help “curtail illegal crossings” on Saturday, Jan. 25, Defense Department officials said. This footage published on DVIDS shows the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion of the 1st Marine Division creating temporary barbed-wire reinforcements for the southern border wall near the San Ysidro Port of Entry crossing point in San Diego. In response to President Donald Trump declaring a national emergency at the southern border last week, the U.S. Defense Department announced a plan to send 1,500 active-duty service members to assist immigration enforcement operations at the southern U.S. border.
