Vice President JD Vance announced on Tuesday, March 25, that he would be joining his wife Usha Vance on a trip to Greenland later this week. Vance announced in a video on X, where he said he would visit the US Space Force base in Greenland and “check out what’s going on with the security there of Greenland.” “Speaking for President Trump, we want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland because we think it’s important to protect the security of the entire world,” Vance said in the video. “Unfortunately, leaders in both America and in Denmark I think ignored Greenland for far too long,” he added. “That’s been bad for Greenland. It’s also been bad for the security of the entire world. We think we can take things in a different direction. So I’m going to go check it out.” National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright are also expected to travel with Usha Vance. Danish and Greenlandic officials have called the visit “highly aggressive” and have said it is putting “unacceptable pressure” on the country. (Credit: JD Vance via Storyful)
