Democrats criticized Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) after she repeatedly shouted an anti-transgender slur during a hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Wednesday. While questioning witnesses about USAID’s funding of gender-affirming healthcare in Guatemala, Mace asked: “Does this advance the interest of American citizens, paying for ‘trannies’ in Guatemala?” After Mace finished her questioning, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Massachusetts) raised the use of slur with the Republican chairman of the committee, James Comer, but was quickly interrupted by Mace, who repeatedly yelled the slur again. “Tranny, tranny, tranny! I don’t really care. You want p—- in women’s bathrooms, and I’m not going to have it. It’s disgusting,” Mace shouted.
