VIDEO: Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth On D.C. Air Collision: Crew Was ‘Experienced’ & Wearing Night-Vision Goggles

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth released his first video address after his narrow confirmation on Thursday, providing more details on the aircraft collision in Washington, D.C., the night before. Hegseth said that the military aircraft was completing “an annual proficiency training flight.” “It was a fairly experienced crew that was doing a required annual night evaluation,” he said. Hegseth added that the crew were wearing night-vision goggles at the time of the crash. “We anticipate that the investigation will quickly be able to determine whether the aircraft was in the quarter and at the right altitude at the time of the incident,” he said.
