California Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed from a press conference held by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles on June 12 amid anti-ICE protests in the city. Footage shared by Padilla shows the moment security pushed the senator, who introduced himself and said he had “questions for the secretary.” Moments later, Padilla is seen being placed face down on the floor of an adjacent hallway and handcuffed by FBI agents. “If that’s what they do to a United States Senator with a question, imagine what they do to farm workers, day laborers, cooks, and the other nonviolent immigrants they are targeting in California and across the country. Or any American that dares to speak up,” Padilla wrote to X. (Credit: Alex Padilla via Storyful)
