President Joe Biden pardoned two Thanksgiving turkeys in Washington, DC, on Monday, Nov. 25, marking the start of his last holiday season in office.
Footage released by the White House shows Biden pardoning the national Thanksgiving turkey duo, Peach and Blossom, on the South Lawn on Monday. Biden said that the turkeys were named after Delaware’s state flower, the peach blossom.
“This event marks the official start of the holiday season here in Washington,” Biden said. “It’s also my last time to speak here as your president during this season and give thanks and gratitude. So let me say to you: it’s been the honor of my life, I am forever thankful.”
According to a local news report, the pardoned Peach and Blossom will head to the Minnesota Agricultural Interpretive Center to serve as education ambassadors.
