President Joe Biden announced this week that their immigration plan is “working as intended.”
Since the lifting of Title 42 on May 12, which allowed authorities to quickly expel migrants at the U.S. border in an attempt to minimize the spread of Covid-19, the administration announced that unlawful border crossings have decreased by more than 70%.
In a White House press release, it was reported that “since the CDC’s Title 42 public health order lifted and the Biden-Harris Administration’s comprehensive plan to manage the border went into full effect, the Department of Homeland Security has continued to experience a significant reduction in encounters at the Southwest Border.”
The administration also put into effect the expedited removal processes under Title 8. This allows the government to remove those migrants who cannot legally establish themselves, and ban them from the country for at least five years.

During the implementation of these new policies, the Biden administration warned of a “challenging period” that was to come before positive results would be seen. However, the chaos seems to have been avoided for now.
From May 12 to Friday, the Department of Homeland Security has sent 38,400 migrants back to more than 80 countries. The asylum claims of thousands of adults and families are currently being assessed.
Border Protection has reported a much lower number of encounters a day, and less than 300 migrants have appeared without CBP One App appointments.
Immigration services have completed around 11,500 “credible fear” interviews within the past few weeks, with the expectation that this number will continue to increase. An additional 23,000 migrants have arrived in America since May 12, after completing the proper legal processes.
The Department of Homeland Security warned that challenges are still to be faced in dealing with the country’s migration problem.
“Until and unless Congress comes together in a bipartisan way… we will continue to see surges in migration at our border,” said the Department of Homeland Security.
Nevertheless, the Biden administration is pleased with the results of the new immigration plan and credits their policy on the improvements that have been made since May 12.

If immigration is under control - why are these Red State governors making an issue of immigration. Because they only run their campaigns on fear and negativism (Transgender, School books) never on issues like improved health care, less school shootings, better education.
