Twitter suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for 12 hours on Monday night following her misleading post about COVID-19 that broke the platform’s misinformation policy.
“We took enforcement action on the account [Marjorie Taylor Greene] for violations of the Twitter Rules, specifically the COVID-19 misleading information policy,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement.
Greene reportedly violated Twitter’s policies for her two tweets posted Sunday and Monday, claiming that the COVID-19 is not a threat for people under 65 and not obese. The House member also stated that vaccines shouldn’t be mandatory for these people.
“The controversial [COVID-19] vaccines should not be forced on our military for a virus that is not dangerous for non-obese people and those under 65,” Greene tweeted. “With 6,000 vax related deaths and many concerning side effects reported, the vax should be a choice not a mandate for everyone.”

Greene’s 12-hour ban on Monday was her second strike because of her misleading post about COVID-19. If she gets up to a fourth strike, she will be banned for a week. If she gets the fifth strike, she could be permanently banned from Twitter.
Greene stayed quiet for a while after her 12-hour ban was over. But on Tuesday, she made another post criticizing the social media platform.
“American social media company Twitter banned me for 12 hrs, censoring me, & violating my freedom of speech,” Greene Tweeted. “You know who else silences, censors, and bans people they don’t like and want heard.”
Communist China … Communism is not good [Twitter],” Greene added. “Save America Stop Communism!”
The new COVID-19 cases have been climbing again as the delta variant is becoming dominant across the U.S. Greene currently has over 420,000 followers on Twitter.
