Tucker Carlson’s Top Writer Blake Neff Resigns After Secret Racist Messages In Online Forum Surface

Fox News host Tucker Carlson‘s top writer, Blake Neff, resigned after CNN Business uncovered a boatload of racist and offensive comments made online under the pseudonym CharlesXII. The comments were not originally censored online.

CNN reported that earlier this week, Neff replied to a thread on the more-or-less unregulated message board, AutoAdmit, which began, “Would u let a JET BLACK congo n****er do lasik eye surgery on u for 50% off?” by saying, “I wouldn’t get LASIK from an Asian for free, so no.”

Neff wrote in late June that the only people who want to change the name of the NFL’s Washington Redskins “white libs and their university-‘educated’ pets.” The team announced Monday that it will change its name and drop the logo. He wrote two days before that “honestly given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep.”

He started threads mocking women he had connected with on social media, called Mormonism “an inherently cucky religion” in February and alluded to the police killing of George Floyd on June 16, commenting on a user’s post about a black man assaulting an elderly white woman. “And to think, if this guy got killed in some freak incident while being arrested, we’d have to endure at least three funerals in his honor,” Neff wrote.

CNN noted certain crossovers between Neff’s language on the forum and Carlson’s script. For instance, Neff commented about a football coach whose sweatshirt was controversial, writing “[I]t is your f***ing right as an American to wear whatever T-shirt you want, and hold whatever political views you want. Christ.” The next night, Carlson told his viewers: “And they can wear whatever shirts they want. You thought that was true. You thought that was your right as an American.”

After CNN Business reached out for comment Thursday night, a spokesperson responded the next morning saying that Neff had stepped down.

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace blasted the “horrific racist, misogynistic and homophobic behavior,” in a memo sent to employees on Saturday, after CNN first published the story. “Neff’s abhorrent conduct on this forum was never divulged to the show or the network until Friday, at which point we swiftly accepted his resignation Make no mistake, actions such as his cannot and will not be tolerated at any time in any part of our work force.”
