Tucker Carlson Gets Viewer Backlash For Questioning Sidney Powell’s Election Conspiracy Theories
Former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell has been circulating her right-wing conspiracy theory that the election was stolen on various talk radio and cable news shows. Powell claims that Venezuela, Cuba and other “communist” interests had used a secret algorithm to hack into voting machines and steal millions of votes from President Donald Trump. Hosts such as Mark Levin of The Mark Levin Show and Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs have praised her patriotism and courage.
However, Tucker Carlson of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight did not offer Powell the same degree of praise. He instead unleashed a 10-minute monologue during which he questioned Powell’s conspiracy theory as a result of her refusal to provide evidence supporting her claims. “When we kept pressing, she got angry and told us to stop contacting her,” Carlson said during the Thursday night segment. “When we checked with others around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority, they told us Powell has never given them any evidence either, nor did she provide any today at the press conference.”
Trump supporters quickly came to Powell’s defense, arguing that she is saving the evidence for court as opposed to publicly sharing it with the media.
Carlson received considerable backlash for his comments, but he took to social media on Friday to provide “an update on our reporting on Sidney Powell’s voter fraud investigation. Watch.”

In the clip, Carlson said that Powell’s refusal to provide evidence does not mean her claims are false, appeasing Trump’s supporters who were so quick to attack him.
