Scottish Parliament will seek an Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO) against the Trump Organization’s two golf courses in the country. Eric Trump, current executive vice president of the Trump Organization, promptly blasted Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie, who originally requested the UWO.
“Patrick Harvie is nothing more than a national embarrassment with his pathetic antics that only serve himself and his political agenda,” according to a statement from Trump. “If Harvie and the rest of the Scottish government continue to treat overseas investors like this, it will deter future investors from conducting business in Scotland, ultimately crushing their economy, tourism and hospitality industries.”
Scottish lawmakers have been outspoken against Trump in the past. In January, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon discussed a potential Trump-ban after it was believed he would break Scotland’s discretionary travel rules for non-citizens. Sturgeon said, “I hope and expect that, as everybody hopes – well, as everybody expects, not everybody necessarily will hope – that the travel plan immediately that he has is to exit the White House, but beyond that, I don’t know.”
Harvie spoke to BBC in response to Trump’s original comments saying, “as entertaining as Eric Trump’s tantrum is, he doesn’t say where his dad got the money to buy his Scottish golf courses.”
