A smattering of supporters showed up outside the Manhattan Criminal Court, where former President Donald Trump had predicted he would do a perp walk. The former president called upon his supporters to “TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” on Truth Social, sparking fears of a violent protest like January 6.
“THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK,” Trump said on Truth Social. He then advised his supporters to “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”
Trump predicted New York City authorities would arrest him following a months-long investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Bragg has been probing allegations around hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels following an affair.
A New York grand jury is reportedly not expected to meet Wednesday. In that event, the earliest Trump could be indicted is Thursday.

The paltry showing of 50 supporters calmed fears of government building takeovers. The size of the crowd may indicate Trump’s waning vice grip on the Republican party base. It also underscores New York City’s preparedness for violence prompted by Trump supporters.
Supporters at the protest said that the small showing was by design.
