Amid the pandemic, President Donald Trump reportedly requested that the border wall be painted black.
According to the Washington Post, the project could cost around $500 million.
“POTUS has changed his mind and now wants the fence painted. We are modifying contracts to add,” said an official involved in the project.
Building a wall around Mexico is one of Trump’s signature campaign promises he has maintained since 2016.

Trump reportedly believed that this modification would make it easier to identify wall jumpers and make the wall too hot touch during the summer.
The report also revealed that military planners and border officials do not support his request due to the high cost and low efficiency.
The wall project already cost over $11 billion and counting.
