Donald Trump talks to reporters outside White House
President Donald Trump abruptly ended an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes on Tuesday as he was apparently angered by the line of questioning. He proceeded to attack long-time CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl on Twitter and threatened to release clips of the interview before it is set to air on Sunday.
A White House official told Politico that Trump spent over 40 minutes taping the first part of the interview but decided not to do the second part along with Vice President Mike Pence. Pence ended up taping for about 15 minutes himself. 60 Minutes plans to broadcast the interviews as part of a special episode that will also feature Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California).
Following his interview, Trump tweeted a video of Stahl speaking to the production crew without wearing a mask.

Assistant White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt jumped on the video as well, writing: “This is moments after she criticized me for not wearing a mask while working at my desk. Rules for thee but not for me, Lesley?”
Stahl wore a mask during the interview and the entire CBS team had reportedly tested negative for COVID-19. Stahl, Trump and Leavitt all previously contracted the virus and the former two both required hospital care.
Trump, seemingly unhappy with how he believes the interview will portray him, threatened on Tuesday that he was “considering posting” a clip “PRIOR TO AIRTIME,” “so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about.”
An aide confirmed to the Washington Post that Trump was concerned about the fairness of the interviews, believing Biden would have an easier interview and that 60 Minutes would “cut it up to make him look bad.”
