On Sunday, President Donald Trump retweeted a video of a Trump supporter in a golf cart, in which one of his supporters repeatedly screamed “white power” seconds into the video during a Florida protest.
The video was shot at The Villages, a Florida retirement community, and showed competing demonstrations between Trump supporters and opponents.
The tweet remained on Twitter for three hours Sunday morning after the president was called frantically for hours to delete the content. Trump was golfing at his Virginia golf club and had put his phone down.
White House aides also unsuccessfully tried to reach deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino who directs Trump’s social media account to delete the content.

In a statement Monday, White House spokesman Judd Deere denied that the president heard the “white power” comment.
“President Trump is a big fan of the Villages. He did not hear the one statement made on the video. What he did see was tremendous enthusiasm from his many supporters,” Deere said in the statement.
The retweet has now been erased from the president’s Twitter account. The original clip of the video remains on Twitter.
