Donald Trump
Following a tweet late Wednesday about white farmers in South Africa, one apparently influenced by a segment on Tucker Carlson’s program on Fox News, President Donald Trump was again accused of racism and promoting the white nationalist agenda.
The president’s tweet echoed baseless claims by white nationalists accusing the South African government of waging a war against whites. A spokeswomen for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa told reporters that Trump was “misinformed” about the land reforms the country is planning adding that it’s government would “take up the matter through diplomatic channels.”
The South African government also released a tweet disputing the Trump’s tweet. “South Africa totally rejects this narrow perception which only seeks to divide our nation and reminds us of our colonial past,” it said.
Former Klan grand wizard David Duke also thanked the president for calling attention to the matter.
