Trump To Award GOP Reps. Devin Nunes & Jim Jordan The Medal Of Freedom, Nation’s Highest Civilian Honor

President Donald Trump plans to award the nation’s highest civilian honor to two of his political allies, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-California) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), before leaving office.

On Monday, Nunes is expected to receive the Medal of Freedom because as the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, who is a close political ally of Trump’s, he has worked closely with him to undermine the Justice Department’s Russia investigation.

Jordan has also been a relentless critic of the Mueller probe.

Trump is also considering giving the Medal of Freedom to retired Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden.

Those three names are among many who have either put themselves on the list for the honor or urged allies to do so on their behalf. The Medal of Freedom has often been used by Trump to reward his allies, whether they be financial or political.

As Trump’s time in office concludes, it has been noted by critics that he’ll likely miss the benefits that come with the presidency rather than the work itself, including the motorcades, rides on Marine One, tours of the Lincoln Bedroom given to dinner guests and the White House press corps at his side.
