Trump Threatens ‘Death And Destruction’ Over Looming Criminal Charges

Former President Donald Trump continued his Truth Social tirade on Friday by escalating his rhetoric ahead of potential charges being levied against him.

In a Truth Social post, Trump asked why a prosecutor would charge him “when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?”

Trump is under investigation in several different unrelated cases, making it difficult to pinpoint which specific allegations he is referencing. Likely however, he is discussing allegations that he conspired with his lawyer to pay hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is investigating the hush money scandal, has argued that Trump is not above the law despite the office he once held. In another Truth Social post, Trump called Bragg — the first black man elected to his position — a “SOROS-BACKED ANIMAL.”

Trump has been condemned by many activists and media personalities for the racist and antisemitic suggestion that his prosecution is being promoted by a Jewish financier controlling a black man.

Trump’s comments have raised fears that he may be inciting violence against the government and legal institutions, potentially mirroring what he is accused of doing on January 6, 2021, while Congress was certifying Joe Biden‘s victory in the 2020 election.

Trump is also facing legal trouble in Georgia after requesting that the Georgia Secretary of State help him “find” 11,000 votes to take the state’s electoral votes from Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis has said that she believes an indictment is imminent.

Trump also is under investigation by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by Merrick Garland in November. Smith is in charge of investigating Trump’s conduct during the 2020 election, his involvement in the January 6 protests, and the mishandling of documents at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
