President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit to block Nevada from implementing a bill to expand mail-in voting to all active voters.
Trump accused Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) who signed the legislation into law on Tuesday, of making it “impossible” for Republicans to win in Nevada.
“In an illegal late night coup, Nevada’s clubhouse Governor made it impossible for Republicans to win the state,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Post Office could never handle the Traffic of Mail-In Votes without preparation. Using Covid to steal the state. See you in Court!”
Trump’s tweet echoes his recent attacks on in-mail voting, as he has been speculating, without evidence, that the voting method is prone to fraud and foreign interference. Last week, Trump has proposed delaying the November elections for the same reason, even though he does not have the legal authority to do so.

Back in May, Trump claimed there was “a lot of dishonesty going along with in-mail voting” and said it“doesn’t work out well for Republicans.”
“Republicans should fight very hard when it comes to statewide mail-in voting. Democrats are clamoring for it,” Trump posted on Twitter. “Tremendous potential for voter fraud, and for whatever reason, doesn’t work out well for Republicans.”
Nevada joins five other states that already use the method – Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah and Washington regularly use in-mail ballots. California and Vermont and the District of Columbia said they intend to join the list to make the election amid coronavirus pandemic safer.
