Trump Slams Ukrainian President Zelensky For Refusal To Recognize Russian Control Of Crimea

President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for refusing to acknowledge Russia’s control of Crimea.

“Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that ‘Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon. “This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of [then-President] Barack Hussein Obama and is not even a point of discussion.

In March, Trump famously kicked Zelensky out of the Oval Office during a live TV fight.

“Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory, but if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired,” he then asked, referring to Russia annexed Crimea, in 2014 after having seized it from Ukraine. “The area also houses, for many years before ‘the Obama handover,’ major Russian submarine bases.

“It’s inflammatory statements like Zelensky’s that make it so difficult to settle this War. He has nothing to boast about! The situation for Ukraine is dire – He can have Peace, or he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country,” Trump stated.

“I have nothing to do with Russia but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever.

“The statement made by Zelensky today will do nothing but prolong the ‘killing field,’ and nobody wants that. We are very close to a Deal, but the man with ‘no cards to play” ‘should finally GET IT DONE.

“I look forward to being able to help Ukraine and Russia get out of this Complete and Total MESS that would have never started if I were President,” Trump claimed.

Hours after this post was shared, Russian missiles struck Ukraine’s capital city, Kyiv and the country’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian authorities.

“As of 11:00 am, eight people have been confirmed dead,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said on Thursday.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that over 70 people had been injured in the attack, with at least 42 being hospitalized, including six children.

It had been one of the largest Russian aerial assaults, including missiles and drones, to target Kyiv in months. Emergency services also noted that rescuers extinguished almost 40 fires across nine regions of Ukraine.

“Kyiv and the region, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions were under massive combined Russian attack,” the emergency services stated.

The services also said that Kyiv had suffered the most damage.

On Thursday morning, Trump replied to these attacks, stating in another Truth Social post that he is “not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv.

“Not necessary, and very bad timing,” he then declared.

“Vladimir, STOP,” he told Russian President Vladimir Putin. “5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”
