Trump Says There Will Be ‘Big Problems’ If He’s Indicted, Suggesting Violence

Former President Donald Trump appeared on Hugh Hewitt‘s conservative radio show on Thursday and indicated that he believes there will be “big problems” if he’s indicted for illegally keeping classified government documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence following his presidency or for scheming to place alternate electors in the 2020 election.

“I can’t imagine being indicted. I’ve done nothing wrong,” Trump said.

Trump and other Republicans have long hinted and possible violence if Trump is found guilty.

In the almost two years since Trump left office, he and his supporters have continued to push conspiracies of election fraud in the 2020 election, saying it was “rigged” and “stolen” from Trump. Those beliefs also may have played a part in inciting the Capitol riots in January 2021 following Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally.

When Hewitt questioned Trump on his response if the media accused him of inciting political unrest again, Trump answered, “That’s not inciting. I’m just saying what my opinion is. I don’t think the people of this country would stand for it.”

In the interview, Trump went on to shoot down allegations that he mishandled classified White House documents. He has come under criticism since the FBI executed a search warrant over his Palm Beach, Florida, residence last month, and found top secret documents. Trump insists that he had declassified the documents.

“There is no reason that they can [indict], other than if they’re just sick and deranged, which is always possible, because I did absolutely … nothing wrong,” Trump added in his conversation with Hewitt.
