Former President Donald Trump promised to consider full pardons for those who participated in the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, if he is elected again to the White House in 2024.
“I will tell you, I will look very, very favorably about full pardons. If I decide to run and if I win, I will be looking very, very strongly about pardons. Full pardons,” Trump said during an appearance on the Wendy Bell Radio Show on Thursday. “We’ll be looking very, very seriously at full pardons because we can’t let that happen. … And I mean full pardons with an apology to many.”
There are 903 people who have been charged and around 250 have been sentenced in connection to the Capitol breach that took the lives of five people.
In the interview, Trump also said that he has offered financial support to some of the people who were charged.
