Trump Says He Will Ignore Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Guidance On Re-Opening Schools

Over a meeting with North Dakota and Colorado governors, President Donald Trump voiced his skepticism about Dr. Anthony Fauci‘s warnings against reopening the country too early and expressed optimism on progress against the virus.

“I think we’re going to have a tremendous fourth quarter,” he stated, adding that there will first be “a transitional third quarter.”

As for next year, Trump voiced unexpected enthusiasm. “I feel like we are going to have a country that’s ready to absolutely have one of its best years. Next year with all of the stimulus and all of the fact that it’s a pent-up demand like I haven’t seen,” he concluded.

He emphasized the importance of restarting the economy, applauding the two governors at the talk for their continued efforts. Trump also made it clear that America’s risky position was a bipartisan issue, stressing the fact that one of the governors was a Democrat and, nonetheless, agreed with him.

Earlier this week, the president also announced that he will disregard Dr. Fauci’s advice and spur schools to reopen in the fall, just like Purdue University did.

“Purdue is opening and others are opening and they’re all announcing it,” he stated.

However, he clarified, he will not exclude that some incidents will still happen, given the spread of virus, while still making it clear that they won’t matter in the big picture.

“You can be driving to school and some bad things can happen, too,” Trump concluded. Fauci’s answer, he later said, “is just not an acceptable” one, “especially when it comes to schools.”
