Trump Says He Faces Up To ‘561 Years’ In Prison

On Tuesday, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed an indictment against Donald Trump for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The former president immediately took to Truth Social to plead with his MAGA supporters.

In a manic post, Trump condemned President Joe Biden, Smith and the entire Justice Department for conducting “endless witch hunts” against him. He asked voters to continue donating to his PAC — which has been diverting campaign money to pay his mounting legal fees — so that he could avoid a lengthy prison sentence.

“If you can contribute even just $1, God knows how much our country needs patriots like YOU at this pivotal moment in history,” he wrote. “Please make a contribution of any amount — truly, even just $1 — to show that our movement will NEVER SURRENDER our country to the Left’s tyranny even as Crooked Joe and his Deep State thugs try to JAIL me for 561 years.”

This is not the first time that the former president has used his legal woes to boost his standing in the 2024 presidential election. His entire campaign has been intertwined with the three indictments that he is currently facing, a tactic that appears to be working.

According to the Federal Election Commission’s website, in the week following Trump’s first two indictments, his campaign raised more than $4 million and more than $2.25 million.

Though it is highly unlikely that Trump will be sent to prison for 561 years, a conviction under any one of the federal charges against him could result in a life sentence given his advanced age.
