Former President Donald Trump said he could beat Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) if he chose to run for office in 2024. DeSantis has been heavily touted by GOP operatives as the likely next presidential nominee of their party.
In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Trump said, “If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would everyone else.” He added that DeSantis would likely “drop out” if he knew Trump was planning to run again.
DeSantis has denied that he plans to run for president in 2024. He faces a re-election campaign next year and sagging polling numbers in the state.
DeSantis has not yet commented in response to Trump’s remarks.
