Trump Rules Out Pence As V.P. For Possible 2024 Run: ‘I Don’t Think People Would Accept It’

Former President Donald Trump signaled that if he were to become the Republican nominee for president again in 2024, his former Vice President Mike Pence would not be his running mate again.

“I don’t think people would accept it,” Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

“Mike and I had a great relationship except for the very important factor that took place at the end,” he added. “We had a very good relationship. I haven’t spoken to him in a long time.”

Trump is referring to Pence’s refusal to overturn the 2020 election results as the overseer of the electoral vote count.

Pence denied ever considering blocking the certification of President Joe Biden because the Constitution does not give the vice president power to do so.

“President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election,” Pence said at an event last month. “The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone. Frankly, there is almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.”

Trump has not formally announced a third bid for the White House.
