NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 20: Former U.S. President Barack Obama answers questions at the Gates Foundation Inaugural Goalkeepers event on September 20, 2017 in New York City.
President Donald Trump retweeted a baseless claim on Sunday alleging that former President Barack Obama helped investigate his campaign’s ties to Russia.
The original tweet read: “Evidence has surfaced that indicates Barack Obama was the one running the Russian hoax.”
The tweet linked to podcaster David Harris Jr.‘s website where he speculated that a newly unsealed FBI document about its investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn linked Obama to the probe.
Harris Jr. is an outspoken conservative whose website promotes rightwing news and theories.
