Trump Repeats His Vow To Be A ‘Dictator’ In New York Speech

During an event Sunday night supported by the New York Young Republican Club, former President Donald Trump doubled down on his remarks made during a Fox News town hall earlier this week. He had declared that if he were to be reelected, he would act as a “dictator,” albeit temporarily, only on the first day in office.

“I said I want to be a dictator for one day. You know why I wanted to be a dictator? Because I want a wall, and I want to drill, drill, drill,” he had said during the town hall.

While speaking at the event Sunday, Trump implied that if he were to be reelected, he would utilize the power of the federal government to target incumbent President Joe Biden.

In front of a supportive audience that included individuals such as the leader of an Austrian political party established by former Nazis and a prominent conservative figure on X (formerly Twitter) responsible for criticizing the transgender community’s response to Bud Light, Trump warned Biden to exercise caution and emphasized how detrimental his actions have been by likening them to Pandora’s box, forever changing the nation.

Trump has spent a significant portion of the year promoting an authoritarian vision for the country.

He has made it clear that he would take control of traditionally independent government departments and agencies, implement extreme anti-immigration strategies, employ government authority to suppress journalists and appoint conservative lawyers who would assist Trump in politicizing federal law enforcement and seeking retribution against his perceived adversaries.

The former president has been very open about granting pardons to criminals who are politically aligned with him. He has labeled his opponents as “vermin,” appearing unconcerned about the word’s historical connections to 1930s Germany.
