Trump Rally Protesters Storm U.S. Capitol Building, Forcing Evacuation Of Pence, McConnell & Pelosi

According to the D.C. Metropolitan Police, the U.S. Capitol Building has been breached in multiple locations by protesters rallying for President Donald Trump and his Republican allies.

Emergency loudspeakers in the Senate chamber, seldom used in the building, warned members to shelter in place while Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were quickly relocated by Capitol security. Video footage shows a mass of protesters flooding into the first floor of the Capitol building only one door away from the Senate chamber.  Multiple shots were fired in the Capitol building.

Pence and other VIPs are still in the Capitol building, but their location is undisclosed. Reporters are currently barricaded on the fourth floor of the Capitol building. Video footage shows protesters breaking down doors inside the building and climbing scaffolding outside. Tear gas has been used outside the Capitol building.

Protesters inside the Capitol building are chanting “Where the f–k are they” as they walk through the building. A protester also breached the Senate chamber and shouted “Trump won!” while sitting in the president’s chair.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has called for a District-wide curfew for D.C. starting at 6 p.m. Bowser, in anticipation of today’s protests, already requested Army National Guard support. Footage shows officers in combat gear approaching the Capitol Building. D.C. Metropolitan police, moments ago, also asked for additional support.

Trump protesters have swarmed the Capitol under direction from Trump and Republican allies. Three hours ago, the president met protesters outside the White House and said that he would be “marching with them.” On his Twitter, Trump cheered on those protesters just an hour ago, but now asked those at the Capitol to cooperate with police, but not to disperse.
