Trump Pressured Barr & DOJ To Investigate Election Conspiracy Theories

Former President Donald Trump pressed incoming Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to launch election fraud investigations, despite a lack of evidence.

On the eve of former Attorney General William Barr‘s resignation, Trump was already reaching out to his successor to advance these baseless allegations. Emails from Trump’s assistant to Rosen show the president sending alleged evidence of election fraud in northern Michigan, using the same claims that a federal judge had dismissed a lawsuit filed by Trump’s lawyers.

These revelations come just after it was recently revealed that former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also pressed the DOJ to investigate baseless claims of election fraud.

Another email from Trump to Rosen outlines what the former president thought the new acting attorney general should argue in the lawsuit, including claims that state officials had utilized the COVID emergency to weaken election security laws.

These emails come after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has found himself in trouble with the Texas State Bar for allegations of intentionally pursuing baseless election fraud lawsuits.
