Former President Donald Trump press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders won the Republican nomination in the Arkansas gubernatorial race on Tuesday, setting her up for victory in the pro-Trump state.
She’s running for the office once held by her father, former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R). Trump endorsed her early on and she easily won the primary by a little over 83% of the vote. She also received a record amount in financing for her campaign at $14 million.
Sanders will face off against Democratic nominee Chris Jones, who is a Baptist minister who attended MIT for a degree in nuclear engineering. He won 70.5% of the votes to send him to the general election in November.
