According to federal elections filings, Donald Trump‘s political action league footed the bill for over $16 million in legal fees in cases involving Trump. $10 million was spent on personal fees racked up by the former president in 2022 alone.
The $10 million went to legal firms representing Trump in a litany of lawsuits – including lawsuits into the Trump Organization. the Trump administration’s handling of the 2020 elections, the document seizure at Mar-a-Lago and criminal sexual assault complaints.
The bills accounted for about 19 percent of the PAC’s entire expenditure in the past two years.
The most significant payment – $3 million – was sent to the Critton, Luttier and Coleman law firm. The firm is tied to Christopher M. Kise, part of Trump’s legal team defending the classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago. Another $2 million was sent to Alina Habba, a lawyer representing Trump in cases alleging he sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll.
