Two Trump Organization executives appeared before a grand jury in Manhattan on Thursday as part of prosecutors’ probe into former President Donald Trump’s business.
Matthew Calamari Jr., the Trump Organization’s corporate director of security, was subpoenaed to appear alongside Jeffrey McConney, the controller of the Trump Organization.
In accordance with New York state law, Calamari Jr. received transactional immunity for his testimony.
Calamari Jr.’s attorney Nick Gravante commented on his client’s appearance. “He appeared today, was immunized and testified truthfully, all of which are required by law,” he said. “He is a model citizen, has never violated any law, and is glad to have this distraction behind him.”

Calamari Jr.’s father, Matthew Calamari Sr., is a longtime Trump deputy who has been under scrutiny by Manhattan prosecutors for possible corporate tax evasion.
In fact, McConney’s testimony on Thursday was intended to clarify details about Calamari Sr., according to sources familiar with the case.
Ronald Fischetti, an attorney for Trump, released a statement on Thursday, claiming Calamari Jr. and McConney “have nothing to say that would help the DA’s case” against the Trump Organization.
Fischetti labeled the investigation as “purely political.” “We are happy that Matt Calamari Jr is going into the grand jury and has immunity,” he said. “We want him to go into the grand jury and tell the truth.”
