President Donald Trump visited South Dakota’s Mt. Rushmore on Friday for his July 4th celebration, “Salute to America,” with a big fireworks display. Fireworks were banned in the area in 2009 due to wildfire and pollution concerns, but Trump personally ordered the fireworks display.
Amid the re-surging coronavirus cases and the recent racial protests, many Americans found it harder to celebrate the Fourth of July.
During the remarks, Trump called the protesters members of the “radical left.”
“We are now in the process of defeating the radical left, the anarchists, the agitators, the looters, and the people who, in many instances, have absolutely no clue what they are doing,” Trump said. “We will never allow an angry mob to tear down our statues, erase our history, indoctrinate our children… And we will defend, protect, and preserve American way of life, which began in 1492 when Columbus discovered America.”
