Former President Donald Trump is unwilling to say whether he will run for president again in 2024.
Trump spoke to Newsmax on Wednesday for one of his first interviews since the Capitol insurrection on January 6. Host Greg Kelly asked Trump about his future political plans, but Trump said, “It’s too early to say, but I see a lot of great polls out there.”
When pressed on whether or not he will run again, Trump said, “we have tremendous support. I won’t say yet, but I have tremendous support, and I’m looking at poll numbers that are through the roof…. I’m the only guy who gets impeached and my numbers go up.”
Wednesday was Trump’s first press day in six weeks. As well as his Newsmax interview, Trump also called into Fox News where he doubled down on his false election fraud claims. Days before, however, Trump released a statement through his PAC slamming Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) for saying Trump was culpable for the Capitol insurrection.
