Trump signed an executive order last month to pause federal aid to South Africa because their property laws are discriminatory against white Afrikaner farmers. Afrikaners are a white Dutch ethnic group comprising 7 percent of South Africa’s population.
“To go a step further, any Farmer (with family) from South Africa, seeking to flee that country for reasons of safety, will be invited into the United States of America with a rapid pathway to Citizenship,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday morning.

Trump has yet to provide more details about the pathway but wrote in his February order that the U.S. would promote Afrikaner refugees escaping discrimination to settle here, and he directed the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security to prioritize their resettlement.

The county passed the law to compensate for the results of racially discriminatory laws, including apartheid and European colonialism. The law is currently being challenged in court.

South African President Cyril Ramaphose has responded to the attacks on the country’s new law. “We will not be bullied. We will stand together as a united nation, and we will speak with one voice in defense of our national interests, our sovereignty, and our constitutional democracy,” said Ramaphose.
The move by Trump comes as his administration tries to deport millions of migrants who have arrived in the U.S. in recent years.
