Trump Moves Coronavirus Guidelines Deadline Back From Easter To April 30

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the social distancing guidelines originally set to expire on Tuesday would be extended to April 30.

“The peak in death rate is likely to hit in two weeks,” Trump said. “Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory is won.”

This comes despite Trump wanting to have the country back to normal by Easter, which is April 12, saying it was a “beautiful” time to relax the social distancing guidelines put out by the White House coronavirus task force to slow down the spread of the virus.

Trump also announced the White House would be putting out more information soon, and hopes that by June 1, “we will be well on our way to recovery.”

White House guidelines call on Americans to avoid gatherings larger than 10 people, avoid public places, avoid travel if possible and to increase personal hygiene.

“We had an aspiration of Easter but when you hear these kind of numbers and you hear the potential travesty,” Trump said, “we don’t want to have a spike up.”

The president said that the country could see a peak in death tolls around Easter before cases begin to decrease in the United States. “We’ve gone through too much. So that was an aspiration,” he said.
