Trump Mocks Sen. Mitt Romney After He Tests Negative For Coronavirus

President Donald Trump, after learning that Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) tested negative for the coronavirus, tweeted he’s “so happy I can barely speak,” and then mocked his political career.

Romney tweeted on Tuesday that he had tested negative for the coronavirus after coming into contact with another senator, who had the virus. Despite this, he said he’d continue to stay in quarantine.

“Thankfully I’ve tested negative for COVID-19. Nevertheless, guidance from my physician, consistent with the CDC guidelines, requires me to remain in quarantine as the test does not rule out the onset of symptoms during the 14-day period,” the tweet read.

The president responded with, “This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak.” However, his tone changed within the same tweet, when he said, “He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!”

This comes after Romney announced a few days ago he would self-quarantine and get tested after coming into contact with Sen. Rand Paul who’s tested positive for the virus. Trump, when learning about it during a press conference, said, “Gee, that’s too bad.”
