President Donald Trump mocked New York Mayor Bill de Blasio after he announced his withdrawal from the 2020 presidential election.

He sarcastically tweeted making fun of de Blasio’s polling record.

“Oh no, really big political news, perhaps the biggest story in year!” wrote Trump. “Part time Mayor of New York City, @BilldeBlasio, who was polling at a solid ZERO but had tremendous room for growth, has shocking dropped out of the Presidential race. NYC is devastated, he’s coming home!”

The tweet came minutes after de Blasio’s appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where he made the announcement.

“I feel like I’ve contributed all I can to this primary election, and it’s clearly not my time,” he said.

Trump has enjoyed mocking de Blasio throughout his campaign, and even called him “the worst mayor in America.” De Blasio has labeled Trump “a bully,” but also told CNN in May that “I understand his game plan. I understand his tricks and his strategies, and I do get under his skin.”
