Trump Loyalist Tina Peters Sentenced To House Arrest For Obstruction Of Justice

Tina Peters, the former Mesa County, Colorado clerk, was sentenced to house arrest and 120 hours of community service following her February 2022 arrest for obstruction.

Peters, a Republican and one of Colorado’s most ardent Trump fans, is under investigation on charges she tampered with voting equipment.

Months before her trial, Peters was spotted at a bagel shop with an iPad device. Peters used the iPad to record a court proceeding – a piece of evidence they needed in the tampering charges. Police had previously obtained a search warrant for the device.

According to the police affidavit, police say Peters resisted the seizure and was taken into custody. Police say she “actively” resisted her arrest.

Peters, now barred from running Colorado elections administration, was fined $750 and ordered to wear an ankle monitor.

She was defeated in 2022 by Democrat Jena Griswold. Griswold sued Peters in May 2022 to bar the former clerk from reclaiming her seat. Peters called the move formalized “politically motivated accusations.”

Peters was among the handful of booted elections officials that supported Trump’s claims of voter fraud in 2020. She announced her campaign to be chair of the Colorado GOP – but she still faces multiple felony counts for her involvement in election tampering.
