Jenna Ellis, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, admitted she misrepresented legal evidence on Trump’s behalf multiple times.
Ellis confessed her wrongdoing during a Colorado disciplinary proceeding.
Ellis agreed to submit to a public censure in the case.
“While serving as a senior legal advisor to the then-President of the United States and as counsel for his reelection campaign, Jenna Lynn Ellis (“Respondent”) repeatedly made misrepresentations on national television and on Twitter, undermining the American public’s confidence in the 2020 presidential election,” Bryon Large, Colorado’s top disciplinary judge, concluded. “The parties agree that two aggravators apply — [Ellis] had a selfish motive and she engaged in a pattern of misconduct — while one factor, her lack of prior discipline, mitigates her misconduct.”

Ellis is the first of Trump’s attorneys to publicly acknowledge that she represented Trump with false claims.
Ellis told many falsehoods in the final days of the Trump presidency. She claimed that Hillary Clinton never conceded in 2016, that Trump “won in a landslide,” and that 500,000 illegal votes were cast in Arizona during the 2020 elections. Ellis admitted that all of these statements were patently false.
Ellis joins a list of former Trump attorneys reprimanded for their statements after the 2020 election. Trump’s personal attorneys, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman and Jeffrey Clark, face disbarment in their respective states after they made false statements in court.
