Trump Launches Attacks On Sen. Kamala Harris Calling Her ‘Phony,’ ‘Horrible’ & ‘Nasty’

After presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California) would be his running mate on Tuesday, President Donald Trump launched into personal attacks on Harris on Twitter and in his public appearances.

Just minutes after Biden named Harris as his running mate, Trump tweeted what appears to be a  campaign ad, which attacks both Biden as “not smart” and Harris as “phony.”

“Voters rejected Harris. They smartly spotted a phony,” the add says. “But not Joe Biden. He’s not that smart. He’s called himself a transition candidate.”

At a Tuesday news conference, Trump continued his attacks on Harris, calling her a liar, labeling her as a person who “that’s told many, many stories that weren’t true.” He claimed she was “very big into raising taxes,” that she “wants to slash funds for our military” and criticized her to be “in favor of socialized medicine.” He recalled Harris’s tough questioning of Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing and called her “extraordinarily nasty” and “nasty to a level that was just a horrible thing.”

“I won’t forget that soon,” Trump said of her.

Trump then said he was “a little surprised” Biden picked her, saying she was “very, very nasty to Joe Biden.”

“I thought she was the meanest, the most horrible, the most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate,” Trump said.

Trump then tweeted on Wednesday that Harris dropped out of presidential race with “zero support” and was “the kind of opponent everyone dreams of.”

State records, however, show that before his presidency, Trump donated to Harris twice when she was a candidate for attorney general of California. In total, Trump donated $6,000 to her campaign committee in 2011 and 2013. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, also donated her $2,000 in 2014.

Harris will become the first black woman and first Asian-American vice presidential nominee on a major-party presidential ticket.
