Trump Has Lowest Approval Rating At 100-Day Mark Of Any President In 80 Years, New Polls Show
Several new polls show that President Donald Trump has earned the lowest approval rating of any president in the past eight decades at 100 days in office.
According to a new ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll, only 39% of respondents stated that they approve of how Trump handles his job, the lowest approval rating of any president in the past 80 years.
This was Trump’s lowest approval rating since March 2017, when he was president. At that time, his approval rating dropped to 37%.
While 60% of poll respondents said Trump is out of touch with most people’s concerns, he still outpaces Democratic lawmakers in terms of who Americans trust to handle their country’s most important issues—69% of the respondents said the Democratic Party is “out of touch,” compared to 64% for the Republican Party.

The poll also shows that the president is losing voters’ confidence in his ability to manage the economy—72% of Americans think it is “very” or “somewhat” likely that his economic policies will lead to an economic recession in the short term.
Only 39% of the respondents said they approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, and 31% approve of how volatile the stock market has been in recent weeks.
This new poll was conducted online between April 18 and 22. It sampled almost 2,500 adults, with a nearly similar number of respondents indicating political party affiliation.
According to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS in February and several other reputable national polls, most voters blame Trump for overstepping his authority.
The poll shows that 47% of Americans approve of his actions since taking office, while 52% do not approve of them – 75% say Trump handled the presidency how they assumed he would, but 25% say that how he is handling it has surprised them.
